An airer earns its keep for one day a week. The other six it has to go somewhere, and mostly it goes on its side in the hallway or stays standing in the lounge room with nothing on it.

This one folds down to 6cm deep. Flat against a wall, behind a door, or down the side of the machine. Open, it stands 157cm tall and 120cm wide, with three tiers holding 36 metres of washing across 30 rails.

The tiers sit apart rather than stacked tight, so air moves between them and the bulkier things get a rail to themselves. The arms fold out for 18 items on hangers and take the total width to 180cm when they are open. The frame is powder-coated steel and the rails are polymer-coated steel, both rust-resistant and UV-resistant. The castors lock, so it stays where you stand it.

Care Instructions

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry well. Skip abrasive scourers so the powder coating stays even. Spread heavier items across the lower tier rather than loading one end. Fold it down and store it indoors or under cover.

How much washing does it hold?

How much room does it need when it is open?

Allow 120cm of width and 45cm of depth for the frame. With the hanging arms fitted and extended, the total width goes to 180cm and the height to 161cm, so leave room on both sides if you plan to use them.

Will it rust in a laundry or on a covered deck?

The frame is powder-coated steel and the rails are polymer-coated steel, both rust-resistant and UV-resistant, so damp laundry air and filtered sun are fine. Fold it down and store it under cover rather than leaving it out in the weather.
